WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army West Point head coach Jeff Monken has selected 10 honorary captains for the annual Black-Gold Spring Game on Saturday, April 30. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Michie Stadium. Monken started the tradition of bringing former players back to serve as honorary captains during his first spring as head coach in 2014 and it continues in 2016 with 10 former players. The honorary captains will participate in the coin toss and then be on the sidelines during the game. "It's important to us as a program and to me personally to continue to stay connected with our former players and teams," said Monken. "We take pride in knowing that our team on the field represents more than the group of players and coaches you will see out there on Saturdays. They are representative of players and coaches from the past. It's important that all former members of the football program know they are part of it, remain part of it and have ownership in it. We are all in this together."

The Black Team will feature former linebacker Chuck Schretzman, who gave an exceptional speech at last year’s football banquet, and current Indianapolis Colt linebacker Josh McNary. Former teammates and 1984 Cherry Bowl winners Nate Sassaman and Doug Black, along with former defensive end Kurt Gutierrez rounds out the Black Team.

Anthony Noto returns to West Point after starring at linebacker for three seasons. Former Knute Rockne Award winner and All-American Bob Novogratz will also be on hand as part of the Gold Team. A host of activities will be held before, during and after the annual Army Football Spring Game on Saturday, April 30. Admission is free of charge.

At 10 a.m., a free youth clinic for children in grades kindergarten through eighth grade will be led by members of the Army football team. To sign up, please call (845) 446-2375 or email odiamktg@usma.edu.

Pregame activities will get underway at 11 a.m. at Gate 1 of Michie Stadium, the lone entrance into the field. Concession stands will be open before and during the contest.

Following the contest, the field will be open for fans to meet the Army Football team and capture player autographs.
